Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Luis Salgado, shown at right, is costarring in the musical On Your Feet!: The Story of Gloria & Emilio Estefan, written by 2015 HOLA Awards honoree Alexander Dinelaris with music by Gloria and Emilio Estefan. The musical will be directed by Jerry Mitchell, choreographed by Sergio Trujillo, andwill start previews in starts previews on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Broadway's Marquis Theatre.
Víctor Cruz wrote, directed, co-produced and stars in the feature film The Stockroom, which is now hitting the film festival circuit. The feature film, also starring April Lee Hernández and 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Liza Colón-Zayas and co-produced by Elaine Del Valle, is the closing night selection of the Jersey City International Television and Film Festival, scheduled to take place in October at the Caroline L. Guarini Theater at the Jersey City Museum in Jersey City, New Jersey. For more information, click here or here.
Vladimir Ríos, shown at left, has wrapped up production on a photo series titled I Still Remember. An epic, compelling photographic narrative (a collaboration with photographer Lester Blum with creative direction by Ríos) which tells a powerful and moving story of the quest for love, destruction, and remembrance, it takes place in the gay culture of New York City in the 1980s and 1990s. I Still Remember commemorates those who have passed from HIV/AIDS-related causes and to help educate a younger generation about the early years of the disease. The photo series is specifically being created for an exhibit opening on World AIDS Day (Tuesday, December 1, 2015). The short film Encubiertos continues hitting the international film festival circuit. The film, written by Ydaiber Orozco and directed by Leo Rod (with co-production and cinematography by Edwin Pagán) was accepted at the Festival de Cine Fantástico de Torremolinos in Málaga, Málaga, Spain. The film stars Orozco, Miguel Belmonte, Jocelyne O'Toole, and 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Héctor Luis Rivera.
