Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Caridad de La Luz (La Bruja) and Jesús E. Martínez co-starred with recording artists Tito Nieves and Frankie Negrón in a concert reading of the musical extravaganza I Like It Like That! With a book by David Maldonado and Waddys Jáquez, the project is produced by Maldonado, David Rodríguez, and Juan Toro and directed by Jáquez. The concert reading had musical arrangements and direction by Desmar Guevara, and took place on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater (located in the theater district of midtown Manhattan). The musical features music from the 1970s salsa scene by artists such as Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Ray Barretto, Ismael Rivera, Cheo Feliciano, Willie Colón, Héctor Lavoe, Rubén Blades, Larry Harlow, Ismael Miranda, Johnny Pacheco, Pete El Conde, Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz, La Lupe, Mon Rivera, Fania All-Stars, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Joe Cuba, Pete Rodríguez, Johnny Colón, and Patatao y Totico. 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Francisco Fuertes, shown at left, accepting his 2015 HOLA Award, is co-starring in and co-produced the short film Tú. Yo. Baño. Sexo. Ahora. (You. Me. Bathroom. Sex. Now.) Written and directed by Francisco Lupini Basagoiti, the film has been hitting the international film festival circuit hard, winning several awards along the way. Its next stop is at the Evolution! Mallorca International Film Festival, taking place in November at Palma de Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain. For more information, click here, here, here or here.
