Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Manuel Morán, shown at right, was profiled in the Héctor Luis Sin Censura blog (written by 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Héctor Luis Rivera, also see below), where it highlighted that Morán was honored with having the 51st annual Festival de Teatro Internacional of the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña dedicated in his honor. The blog also mentions that the 2015 HOLA Award-winning production Sueño (based on the William Shakespeare play A Midsummer Night's Dream; adapted by Norge Espinosa and directed by Morán), which will take place in December in the world famous El Castillo San Felipe del Morro in Viejo San Juan. Also featured in the Héctor Luis Sin Censura blog were 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Natalia Ivana Escobar, of the short film Latiner (written and directed by Inés Gowland), Best Short Film winner of the recent Official Latino Short Film Festival in New York City, and Robert Almonte, who co-stars opposite 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Héctor Luis Rivera (also see above) in the short film Dondequiera que vayas (written and directed by Danilo Arroyo). Due to popular demand, the HOLA Award-winning production of Abuse/Abuso, will return for an extended run. The play, written by 2015 HOLA Award recipient Antonio Muñoz de Mesa and produced, designed and directed by Ángel Gil Orrios, stars an all-HOLA member cast in 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Francisco Fuertes and 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Soledad López. The production will run in October at Thalía Hispanic Theatre in the Sunnyside area of Queens. For more information, click here.
Alphabeta Productions is presenting the play Field of Blood. Written and directed by A.B. Lugo, the play will star Mónica Delgado, Patrick Michael Valley, Marie Pohl, Jorge Álvarez and Ricardo Aguirre and will be presented as part of the En Un Acto theater and film festival presented by TEBA at the Broadway Blackbox Theater, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood.
David Zayas and 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Liza Colón-Zayas star in the movie Lost Cat Corona (written and directed by Anthony Tarsitano). The film, which is in post-production, also stars Sean Young, Ralph Macchio, Gina Gershon, Paul Sorvino, Tom Wopat and Anthony Ruivivar.
