HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip". In this sense, we use it to highlight HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Luis Salgado was featured in the daily Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Día, where it spoke of his recent Fred & Adele Astaire Award nomination for Best Male Dancer on Broadway for his current work in the Tony Award-nominated Estefan-Estefan-Dinelaris musical On Your Feet!: The Story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan. The award-winning play Barceló on the Rocks/Barceló con hielo, written by Marco Antonio Rodríguez, shown at left, has just been published by NoPassport Press in a bilingual (English/Spanish) version. For more information, and to buy the book, click here.

The play Olvidadas, written by Pablo García Gámez (also see below) is being presented in May by Pablo Andrade and Corezón as part of the FUERZAfest - Latino LGBTQ Fest, taking place at the Julia de Burgos Latino Cultural Center in Manhattan's El Barrio neighborhood. The play is being directed by Diego M. Chiri and will star Noëlle Mauri and Rosie Berrido.

Manuel A. Morán, shown at right, is featured in El Blog de Pablo (edited by Pablo García Gámez, also see above) on account of his directing, producing and starring in A 3 Voces. The musical revue, which highlights the many musical trios of Latin America), will be produced in May at Teatro SEA, located in the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center (home to HOLA) in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood. Roberto D Jesús is starring opposite Rafael Alejandro in the play Mi pecado favorito. Written and directed by Rafael Mejía, it is being presented by Arketipo as part of the FUERZAfest - Latino LGBTQ Fest, taking place in May at the Julia de Burgos Latino Cultural Center in Manhattan's El Barrio neighborhood. Gerardo Gudiño is starring opposite Willie Denton and Joe Loper in Rafael Albarrán's Checkmate. Directed by Gama Valle, the play is being presented by Oomph! in May as part of the FUERZAfest - Latino LGBTQ Fest, taking place in May at the Julia de Burgos Latino Cultural Center in Manhattan's El Barrio neighborhood. For more information, click here.
