HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip". In this sense, we use it to highlight HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Marlene Forté, shown at right, in character, plays the recurring role of Celia Flores (the mother of Luis Flores, played by Arturo Del Puerto) in the television series "Fear The Walking Dead" (AMC).

Judy Torres has been quite busy as of late. She will sing her hits on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Barkada Lounge in Passaic, New Jersey. For more information on this event, click here. In addition, the film Fists of Love, in which she co-stars, will be screened at the Hoboken International Film Festival. Written by Brian Pollock and directed by Daryl Denner, the film also co-stars Mateo Gómez and will be screened on Saturday afternoon, June 4, 2016 at the Paramount Theatre in Middletown, New York. Erick Betancourt, shown at left, became a Lifetime Member of the prestigious Actors Studio, the legendary membership organization for professional actors, theatre directors and playwrights founded in 1947 by Elia Kazan, Cheryl Crawford, Robert Lewis and Anna Sokolow. After a long tenure being helmed by famous director and teacher Lee Strasberg, it is currently run by Al Pacino, Ellen Burstyn, and Harvey Keitel. 



Luis Salgado, shown at right, with his wife Denisse Ambert, was featured in a photoarticle from Broadway World, highlighting the 2016 Fred & Adele Astaire Awards, for which Salgado was nominated for Best Male Dancer and as part of Outstanding Ensemble in a Broadway Show for his work in the musical On Your Feet!: The Story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan. Melvin Vázquez, shown at left, booked a role in the Columbia University film short Rafael's Oboe (written and directed by Cristián Donoso; produced by Mark Castillo), after the director saw his profile in the HOLA online directory of talent and called him to audition.

The play Olvidadas, written by Pablo García Gámez is being presented in May by Pablo Andrade and Corezón as part of the FUERZAfest - Latino LGBTQ Fest, taking place at the Julia de Burgos Latino Cultural Center in Manhattan's El Barrio neighborhood. The play is being directed by Diego M. Chiri and will star Noëlle Mauri and Rosie Berrido. For more information, click here.
