
Indra Palomo is acting in the bilingual children's play La cucarachita Martina (Martina, the Little Roach). Based on the Pura Belpré short story (itself adapted from Cuban and Puerto Rican folktales), it was adapted and directed by Manuel Morán, and is currently running at Teatro SEA, located in the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center (home to HOLA) in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood. Edna Lee Figueroa, shown at left, in character, will be starring with Edmi De Jesús in Santa Bárbara es una femme fatale. Written by Mariana Monclova and Camila Monclova, it will be produced by Producciones El Barrio, directed by Figueroa and De Jesús and have its NYC premiere in April as part of the first annual Festival de Comedias TEBA, presented by the Teatro Experimental Blue Amigos at the Broadway Blackbox Theater in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. Pablo García Gámez's solo show Yo no soy Lupita will be presented in May. Starring Caridad del Valle, the Teátrica production is directed by Leyma López and will be presented at the Broadway Blackbox Theater in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. For more information, click here.
