Bochinche refers to "gossip". In this sense, we use it to highlight HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Liza Colón-Zayas, shown at right, is one of the stars of Father's Day. Written by Elizabeth Canavan and directed by Kiki Lambden-Stout, the short film also stars Canavan, Susan Aston, Michael Puzzo, Jinn S. Kim, and Thomas P. Sherman, and will have its world premiere in April 2016 at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The short film is one of 72 (45 of which are world premieres; 53 of which are in competition) selected out of 3,553 submissions. Rénoly Santiago, shown at left, sang at the memorial service for the late Tony-nominated writer, composer, musician, choreographer, and theatre director Elizabeth Swados. Swados received four 1978 Tony Award nominations for her musical Runaways (Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score, Best Direction of a Musical, Best Choreography), and scored the Broadway productions The Cherry Orchard, Agamemnon, and Doonesbury. The service took place on at Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at St. Marks Church in the Bowery, located in Manhattan's East Village.
Vivienne Jurado, shown at right, is co-producing and moderating a panel entitled The Right Agent for the Diverse Multicultural Talent. The panelists include professionals from CESD Talent Agency, Paradigm Talent Agency, Andreadis Talent Agency, Ingrid French Management, Emerging Talent, and Funny Face Today. The panel will take place on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Chelsea Studios in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood. For more information, click here.
Luis Salgado, shown at left, was profiled in Broadway World, where it was announced that he will be co-choreographing (alongside Andy Blankenbuehler) the three-hour musical remake of "Dirty Dancing" (ABC). Salgado holds a special place in his heart for the film Dirty Dancing– he was Diego Luna's dancing double in the film's sequel Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights, and he currently plays Kenny Ortega (the film's original choreographer) in the Estefan-Estefan-Dinelaris Broadway musical On Your Feet!: The Story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan (currently playing at the Marquis Theatre).
