HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Jerry Soto, shown at right, just wrapped up co-starring in the Alex Pérez play Julián and Romero. Directed by Pérez, the play also starred 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Sebastian Stimman, Edna Lee Figueroa (also see below) and Gonzalo Trigueros. The production ran in August as part of the New York International Fringe Festival (fringeNYC) at the Flamboyán Theater, located in the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center (home to HOLA), in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood. In addition, as Jerry "El Campeón Comentarista" Soto, he provides (with Marcelo "El Guapo" Rodríguez) color commentary for Spanish-language broadcasts of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) programs.

The feature film Medardo (written by 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Julio Ortega and directed by 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Nitsy Grau) will open the inaugural Festival Internacional de Cine de Guayaquil. It will take place on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Simón Bolívar Auditorium at the Museo Antropológico y de Arte Contemporáneo (MAAC) in Guayaquil, Guayas, Ecuador. The film stars Ortega, Edna Lee Figueroa (also see above), Inma Heredia, Edison Carrera, and 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Juan Villarreal. Mônica Steuer co-stars in the feature film Cassanova Was A Woman (written by Jezabel Montero and directed by Kevin Arbouet), which is currently hitting the film festival circuit. Its latest stops will be in September at the Broad Humor Film Festival (in Los Angeles, California) and the Golden Door International Film Festival (in Jersey City, New Jersey). The film also stars Montero, Margo Singaliese and Paolo Andino. For more information, click herehere or here.

The feature film La novia del libertador (written and directed by Rocío Llado and produced by 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Ana María Estrada) is continuing its run on the international film festival circuit was in August at the 19th annual Festival de Cine de Lima in Lima, Lima, Perú. The film starred Estrada, Luis Galli and Nathalie Tolentino. For more information, click here.
