HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

2015 HOLA Awards recipient Sebastian Stimman and Edna Lee Figueroa, shown, in character, at right, from left to right, were profiled in the Héctor Luis Sin Censura blog (written by 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Héctor Luis Rivera), where they were highlighted for their roles in the upcoming production Julián and Romero. Written and directed by Alex Pérez, the play stars Stimman and Figueroa (and features choreography by Stimman) and is being presented in August as part of the New York International Fringe Festival (fringeNYC) at the Flamboyán Theater in the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center (home to HOLA). For more information on the play, click here. To read the blog, which is in Spanish, click here.

Gabriela García is starring in the musical Love in the Middle Ages. With a book by Eric Kornfeld and Jeffrey Jackson, lyrics by Kornfeld, and music by Michelangelo Sosnowitz, the production is directed by Lisa Shriver (with musical direction by Mark Baron), and is running in August as part of the New York International Fringe Festival (fringeNYC) at Drom, located in Manhattan's East Village. For more information, click here.

2015 HOLA Awards recipient Jorge Luis Figueroashown at left, was cast in a production of William Shakespeare's Othello, as a result of a casting notice he received from HOLA and him self-submitting. The production, directed by Daniel Echevarria, will be presented in August at the Davenport Theatre, located in the theater district of midtown Manhattan. For more information, click here and here.

Jason Torres will star in the short film Am I Ready? (directed by Kecia Romiel), which is scheduled to film in New York City later this year.
