HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Raquel Almazán, shown at right, has been named a 2015-16 Core Apprentice Writer with The Playwrights Center (based in Minneapolis, Minnesota), where one of her plays will have a developmental workshop. For more information, click here.

Jennica Carmona's film Millie and the Lords continues its run in the film festival circuit. Its next stop will be  at The People's Film Festival, where it will screen in May at the Maysles Cinema, located in Manhattan's Harlem neighborhood. The film, written and directed by Carmona (and co-produced by Joel Arandia), stars Jessica Carmona; Cedric Leiba, Jr.Mateo Gómez; Millie Tirelli; Alfredo Romeo Suárez; Alfredo Huereca; and Gabriel Castillo. For more information, click here or here. The Francisco Lupini Basagoiti short film Tú. Yo. Baño. Sexo. Ahora. (starring Francisco Fuertes and Mauricio Pitacontinues its journey on the film festival circuit, with a stop in June at the My True Colors Film Festival, where it will screen at the Faison Firehouse Theater, located in Manhattan's Harlem neighborhood. Víctor Cruz, shown at left, is one of the hosts of the fourth annual World of Colors concert, presented by the World Heritage Cultural Center. The concert will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at CityCenter Danbury Green in Danbury, Connecticut. For more information, click here or here. In addition, he is producing and co-directing (the latter with Guru Enlightment) the solo show The Naked Truth (written and performed by Rick Herrera). The production will happen on Saturday, May 30, 2015 as part of the Emerging Artists Theater (EAT) New Work Series (Spring 2015), taking place at the TADA!
