HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Eduardo Leáñez, shown at right, in character, was featured in the ArteNY blog, where he was highlighted because he is set to perform his solo show You Are Confused! (written by Leáñez and Patrick Horrigan, and directed by Rosalie Purvis) in June at the Henry Warren Theater, located in the Bath Beach section of Brooklyn. Solanyi Rodríguez booked a role in the television series "In The Line of Fire" (Investigation Discovery).

United Productions is presenting the play San Salvador después del eclipse. Written by Carlos Velis and directed by Ricardo J. Salazar, it will be presented in May at the V Festival del Comisionado Dominicano at the Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en EEUU, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. The cast includes the all-HOLA member cast of Natalia Ivana EscobarJorge Luis Figueroa, Aileene Pérez and Franco Yáñez. For more information, click here or here. Also mentioned in the La Voz Hispana article above are Héctor Luis Rivera and Raúl Rivera (no relation), who are starring in the play Simón en el desierto. Produced by Teatro Experimental Blue Amigos (TEBA) and Compañía Hispana de Actores Sobresalientes (CHAS), the play was adapted from the film by Luis Buñuel (and the dramatic poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson) and directed by Emir Cruz, the play will be presented in May at the Broadway Blackbox Theater, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. Finally, Iván L. Argudo was featured in the La Voz Hispana Entreactos y Telones column, where his company (Teatro Vanguardia USA)'s production of Jorge Dávila Vásquez's El barco ébrio was featured. The production starred Paul Montoya (see also below), Caridad del Valle (see also below) and Ivonne Martínez, and ran in May at the Producers' Club Theaters (located in the theater district of midtown Manhattan).


Julio Ortega and Edna Lee Figueroa were featured in the May 2015 issue of the Ecuadorian magazine La Onda, which highlighted the feature film Medardo (written by Ortega and directed by Nitsy Grau Crespo, and starring Ortega and Figueroa), based on Ortega's award-winning stage play of the same name. In addition to Ortega, the film stars Lupita Ferrer, Edna Lee FigueroaJuan VillarrealEdison Carrera, Gloria Ospina, Fior Marte, and Inma Heredia. Caridad del Valle (see also above), Claudio Weisz and Paul Montoya (see also aboveare featured in the ArteNY blog, where they are highlighted for the production of Delirio furioso. Written by del Valle, directed by del Valle and Montoya, the production stars del Valle and Weisz. The production by La Caja de los Prejuicios/The Prejudice Box will take place in May at the V Festival del Comisionado Dominicano at the Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en EEUU, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. Modesto Lacén is playing Pedro Knight in the Fox Telecolombia limited television series titled "Celia", based on the life of Celia Cruz, known as the Queen of Salsa and Guarachera de Cuba. Lacén plays the husband and manager to Jeimy Rosario's Celia. (The series has been picked up for the U.S. by the Telemundo network.) A trailer for the series (which is in Spanish with English subtitles) can be seen below.
