2014 HOLA Awards Honorees: LUPITA FERRER

Lupita Ferrer (HOLA Excellence in the Telenovela Genre Award) started acting at the age of 15 playing Ofelia in Hamlet. In the 1960s she worked in many Mexican and Venezuelan-Mexican film co-productions next to actors like Mario Moreno “Cantinflas", and during the 1970s worked in Hollywood movies sharing the screen with actors such as Tony Curtis. Her earliest telenovelas included “Esmeralda”, “Mariana de la noche”, “María Teresa” “La Zulianita” and “Cristal”. She was cast alongside Hollywood legends Anthony Quinn and Dolores Del Río in the film The Children of Sánchez (1978), better known for its Grammy Award-winning musical score by Chuck Mangione. In 2006, she acted opposite Salma Hayek in an episode of ABC's “Ugly Betty”. Recent TV credits include the telenovelas “Pecados ajenos”, “Eva Luna”, “Rosa Diamante”,“Mujeres asesinas 4” and “Voltea pa' que te enamores”.

The 2014 HOLA Awards will take place on Monday, October 13, 2014 at the Battery Gardens, in Battery Park, overlooking New York Harbor at the southernmost tip of Manhattan. For more information, click here.
