2014 HOLA Awards Honorees: DANIEL ARENAS
Daniel Arenas (HOLA Excellence in the Telenovela Genre Award) is the youngest of six children, the son of a doctor. He studied at San Pedro Claver de Bucaramanga, and upon graduating, he started studying social communication at the Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga, in his hometown of Bucaramanga, Santander, Colombia. He lived in the United States for a time with his parents and started his acting training there. He was a contestant in the first season of the reality show “Protagonistas de Novela” in Colombia in 2002, where he was a finalist. After the program, he booked a lead role in the telenovela “Francisco, El Matemático”. Other telenovela credits include “Un Angel llamado Azul”, “Los Reyes”, “Riarte” (India Catalina Awards nomination), “La sucursal del cielo”, “Nuevo Rico, Nuevo Pobre” and “Doña Bella”. In 2010, he played Fernando in the Mexican telenovela “Teresa”, marking his Televisa debut. The following year, he acted in the Ricardo Arjona film Poquita ropa. Further telenovela credits include “Amorcito corazón” and “Corazón indomable”. He was named the Sexiest Actor of the Year in 2006 and 2008 by TV y Novelas magazine. In 2012 he acted on stage in Mexico City, playing the title role
in the musical Hércules, where he starred opposite Violeta Isfel and Miguel Pizarro. He can currently be seen in the telenovela “La Gata”, a remake of the telenovelas “Marimar” and “Rosa salvaje”. Since its premiere, it has become the telenovela with the largest ratings share for the Televisa network.
The 2014 HOLA Awards will take place on Monday, October 13, 2014 at the Battery Gardens, in Battery Park, overlooking New York Harbor at the southernmost tip of Manhattan. For more information, click here.
