Before a packed house, opening act Vanessa Hollingshead warmed up the crowd and prepared for the fun time ahead. After brief addresses from Louis Perego Moreno (Tío Louie) and Kiki Meléndez, the screening went underway.
The comedy stars Meléndez as it highlights her trials and tribulations with trying to make it in Hollywood. The film (co-written by Lynn McCullough and co-directed by Erick Crespo) also has appearances from Nadine Velázquez (a 2013 HOLA Awards honoree), Esaí Morales, Lupe Ontiveros, María Conchita Alonso, Jacob Vargas, Guy Ecker, Johnny Ray Rodríguez, Susan Rybin, among others.
After the screening (and due to the large number of people in attendance), the afterparty occurred a few doors down at the Belgian bar-restaurant BXL Zoute, where attendees celebrated the success of the movie for a mind-boggling eight hours.
Among the attendees were luminaries such as Cid Wilson, Lino García, Jennice Fuentes, Sophia Angélica, Fleriser Bello, Christopher Lupo, Marco Antonio Rodríguez, and people who worked on the film, such as Crespo, McCullough, Rodríguez and Rybin.
Be on the lookout for this hilarious "docu-comedy" which is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide in 2014.
