HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip". In this sense, we use it to highlight HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Pablo García Gámez and Roberto D'Jesús, shown at above left and at right, were featured in on the Hispanic Federation website, where their recent award wins from The FUERZAFest - Latino LGBTQ Festival (co-produced by the Federation) were highlighted. García Gámez won the Abniel Marat Award for Best Playwright for his play Olvidadas, and D'Jesús won Best Actor for his role in the Rafael Mejía play Mi pecado favorito. Guillermo Ayestas is starring in the film Sunset Paradise (written by Thomas Cross and directed by Bronsen Bloom). Principal photography is currently taking place in Florida.

Manuel A. Morán was interviewed by Victoria Sosa and Janice Bencosme of "Acceso Total NY" (Telemundo 47 New York, where he talked about the upcoming Teatro SEA production of the play La muela del rey Farfán/The King Who Refused To Love. Written by Serafín Álvarez Quintero and Joaquín Álvarez Quintero and directed by Morán, the award-winning production has a new score by Morán and Iván Alexander Bautista, and will be presented in June as part of the Arte Pa' Mi Gente/Arts For All Festival, scheduled to take place at La Plaza at The Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center (home to HOLA) in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood. The cast will include Francisco Fuertes (who is mentioned in the interview), Indra Palomo, Shadia Almasri, Edward Cardenales and Morán, among others. Each performance will an opening act (Milteri Tucker and Bombazo Dance Company will perform on Sunday, June 19, 2016) and cultural artisans and food vendors.
