Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Eduardo Ramos, shown at right, did some ADR/looping work for two upcoming film projects due to an HOLA referral.
Milteri Tucker did the choreography for the short film The Last Colony. Directed and filmed by Laura Wald of Freewoods Films as part of their 5 Under 5 project, the film features Tucker and poet Noel Quiñones (performing his work) and dancers from Tucker's Bombazo Dance Company. A.B. Lugo and Eduardo Leáñez are acting in the feature film The Last Scene. Adapted by Félix Hiciano (who also co-stars and is producing) from the Richard Thomas Henle stage play of the same name, the film is directed by Henle and is currently in production in New York City. The film also stars Taína Elena, Mercedes Ilarraza, Chris Raglin, and Chanise Renae. For more information, click here.
The Cuban music group Máxima Alerta (featuring Lucio Fernández, shown at far left in the photo at left) will perform on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at The Bitter End (in Manhattan's Greenwich Village). For more information, click here.
INTAR, in association with The Consulate General of Spain in New York, is presenting adaptations of two entremeses (short plays) by Miguel de Cervantes. La elección de los alcades de Daganzo/Electing the Judges of Daganzo (adapted by José Antonio Melián and Walter Krochmal) and El retablo de las maravillas/The Magical Puppet Show (adapted by Mariana Carreño King) are directed by Rebecca Martínez and will star a cast of ten (including Valeria Avina) and will perform in June at INTAR's namesake theater in the Hell's Kitchen/Clinton neighborhood of Manhattan.
