Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Mildred Ruiz-Sapp, shown at right, will be performing in DJ Latinidad's Latino Dance Party. Conceived and directed by Mark Valdez, this world premiere is comprised of commissioned work by Junot Díaz, Kristoffer Díaz, Michael John Garcés, Virginia Grise, María Isa, Melinda López, Joe Minjares, Sean San José, Tanya Saracho and Octavio Solís, and will take place in March 2016 at Mixed Blood Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Modesto Flako Jiménez and Brooklyn Gypsies are producing the One Catches Light Festival. A festival of solo shows, this year's roster includes work by writer-performers Nick E. Finn, Colie McClellan, and Bay Bryan (to be directed by Jiménez, Mark Kennedy, and Artem Yatsunov, respectively). A.B. Lugo and Évi Siskos were interviewed by Victoria Sosa on the Telemundo program "Acceso Total NY" where they spoke of their roles as Orlando and Rosalind, respectively, in the William Shakespeare play As You Like It. Produced by TTO Entertainment and directed by José A. Esquea, the play is running in January 2016 at the Flamboyán Theater in the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center (home to HOLA) in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood.
