HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

Juan Villarreal, shown at right, shot the short film Gone Dark, opposite Maggie Bofill, for writer-director Daniel Slottje. He booked the role after the writer-director found his profile in the HOLA online directory of talent and called him in to audition. He is following this up with a leading role in the short film New Year's Eve @ Sunny's, written and directed by Bob Giraldi.

A.B. Lugo will be performing some of his work on a bill with writers Jonathan Marcantoni and Charlie Vázquez on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico Center for Recruitment of Students and Alumni, located in Manhattan's El Barrio neighborhood.

Héctor Luis Rivera, Kathy Tejada, and Lissette Montolío Payán were featured in an article in the biweekly New York City newspaper El Orgullo Ecuatoriano because of their starring roles in Franco Galecio's play La espera. Directed by Galecio, the Teatro Experimental Blue Amigos (TEBA) production also stars Yvette Quintero and Lorendy Rosario Carvajal and will take place in February at the Broadway Blackbox Theater, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. Mildred Ruiz-Sapp and Steven Sapp of the performance collective Universes were keynote speakers at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration on Monday, January 18, 2016 in Ashland, Oregon. The event was streamed live on the global, commons-based HowlRound TV network. For more information on the event, click here.
