HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. David Zayas, shown at right, acted in one of the plays that closed out the season of the theater company New York Madness (NYMadness). With a focus on emerging writers, NYMadness hosts a hot night of short plays all based on a theme proposed by the more established Featured Guest. This particular incarnation boasted David Bar Katz as the Featured Guest and plays by Cecilia Copeland, Libby Emmons, Judith Leora, Michael Panes, Michael Puzzo, Abby Rosenbock and Morris Akiba Katz. Directors included Claudia Weill, Shira-Lee Shalit, Dina Vovsi, Frank Licato, Michele Travis, Danya Taymor and Julie Kramer. The event took place on Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater in the theater district of midtown Manhattan. For more information, click here

Actor-humanitarian-producer-teacher José Yenque, shown at left, was featured in the Daily 49er blog, where his acting workshop and his acting career are highlighted. To read the blog, click here.

Basílica Bliachas (see below) is starring in and producing the pilot webisode of the webseries "Made in New York" Written and directed by Yolanda García Serrano, the webseries also stars Noëlle Mauri, RJ Batlle, Arthur Griffith and Seth James. For more information about the webseries, click here.

Production work has wrapped up for the film Yo, la peor de todas. Written and directed by Francisco Lupini Basagoiti and produced by Francisco Fuertes, the film starred Carmen Cabrera, Basílica Bliachas (see above), Ana Verónica Muñoz, Laura Gómez, María Joaquina Núñez and Miguel Belmonte and is expected to hit the film festival circuit soon.

Emely Grisanty, click at right, was the subject of a blog in the Lo que tú perdistes section of the U.S. Latino version of Yahoo!, where her tour-de-force performance in the solo show Edipo (adapted and directed by Walter Ventosilla from the Greek myth of Oedipus) was highlighted.
