Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. 2016 HOLA Awards recipient Pablo Andrade, shown at right, was interviewed by Yessi Hernández for the weekly New York newspaper El Especial, where it highlighted his work as an actor, director and producer. Erick Betancourt starred opposite Helen Herbert in the Tariq Hamami play Final Request. Directed by Lori Kee, the play was part of the Connect/Disconnect 2 Short Play Festival (subtitled This Round's On Us). The Nylon Fusion Theatre Company production took place in September at the TADA! Theater, located in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood. For more information, click here or here.
The award-winning feature film Millie and the Lords continues racking up awards. Its latest award is for Best Director of a Feature Film at the Newark International Film Festival (taking place in September at Newark, New Jersey) for writer-director Jennica Carmona, shown at left. The film stars Jessica Carmona; Cedric Leiba, Jr.; Alfredo Romeo Suárez; Gabriel Castillo; Carolina Ravassa; Alfredo Huereca; Alex Castillo; 2016 HOLA honoree Modesto Lacén; Plinio Villablanca; and Mateo Gómez.
