HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

Blanca Camacho, shown at right, is one of the stars of New York Animals. Written by Steven Sater (and featuring the songs of Sater and Burt Bacharach), the world premiere play with music opened in November and is currently running through December at the New Ohio Theater, located in Manhattan's West Village.

Eduardo Leáñez and Patrick E. Horrigan will present their latest incarnation of their Actors With Accents performance series. Among the performers will be Inma Heredia. The event will take place on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Teatro Círculo's namesake theater space in Manhattan's East Village. For more information, click herehere or here.

Vladimir Ríos, shown at left, in character, was featured in the blog SILive, where he was profiled for his collaboration with photographer Lester Blum on the photo series I Still Remember and its current exhibition at the Staten Island LGBT Community Center in the Tompkinsville section of Staten Island. The photo series is a narrative taken by Blum featuring Ríos (who also served as artistic director) as one of the two lead characters. The photo series, which deals with the HIV/AIDS pandemic in late-1980s/early-1990s New York, has been published as photo books and is hitting the art gallery circuit. The exhibition opened on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in commemoration of World AIDS Day, and will have its official opening on Saturday, December 12, 2015. Morán was profiled in a vlog (video blog) of the Puerto Rican daily newspaper El Nuevo Día, where he spoke about the 2015 HOLA Award-winning production of SueñoThe production (written by Norge Espinosa and directed by Morán) will be part of the 51st annual Festival de Teatro Internacional of the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña (ICP), which is also dedicated to Morán. Sueño will take place in December in the Esplanade at the world famous El Castillo San Felipe del Morro (more commonly known as El Morro) in Viejo San Juan, Puerto Rico.
