Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.
Carlo Lorenzo García, shown at right, has two projects in the Broken Knuckle Film Festival (BKFF), scheduled to take place online in November. Vladimir Ríos, along with photographer Lester Blum, have created the photo series I Still Remember. An epic, compelling photographic narrative which tells a powerful and moving story of the quest for love, destruction, and remembrance, it takes place in the gay culture of New York City in the 1980s and 1990s. I Still Remember commemorates those who have passed from HIV/AIDS-related causes and to help educate a younger generation about the early years of the disease. The photo series is specifically being created for an photo exhibition opening at New York's Staten Island LGBT Community Center (located in in the Tompkinsville neighborhood of Staten Island) on World AIDS Day (Tuesday, December 1, 2015). For more information on I Still Remember (including behind-the-scenes photos), click here. To see additional photos, click here (note: some photos are not safe for work). The photos have also been published as a Blurb book, which is now available for purchase. For more information (including a preview of the book), click here (note: some photos are not safe for work).
Ángel Gil Orrios, shown at left, will be awarded the Luke Adams Sunnysider of the Year Award, as a result of the work he has done for the neighborhood of Sunnyside in Queens (where he is the Executive and Artistic Director of the award-winning Thalía Hispanic Theatre, which is located in Sunnyside and which recently picked up four 2015 HOLA Awards). The award ceremony will take place on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Sunnyside's own Tangra Ballroom. For more information on the awards ceremony, click here.
2015 HOLA Performer's Choice Awards recipient A.B. Lugo guest-starred in the first webisode of the webseries "What Lies Beyond?" (Paradox Studios). Written and directed by Ernest Bourne, it can be seen below.
