Milteri Tucker, shown at right, won a Taino Award as Dancer & Choreographer of the Year (Areito Award) for her choreography of the musical Temple of the Souls. Librettist Anita Vélez-Mitchell also received a Taino Award for Dance and Theatre (Areito Award) for the same show. The awards ceremony was hosted by Caridad De La Luz (also known by her nom de poésie et de musique La Bruja or by her Taino name Kachianao).

Dinorah Coronado, pictured at left, will be the subject of a tribute for her literary career as part of Women's History Month. The playwright, poet and writer of children's books most recently received a Medal of Merit from the government of her native Dominican Republic. The event will take place on Saturday afternoon, March 31, 2012 at the New York Public Library-Hamilton Grange Branch, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. Kayros Theater Group and Golden King Productions present Medardo. The play by Julio Ortega, is directed by José Cheo Oliveras, and is scheduled for an April run at the Little Times Square Theater in the theater district of midtown Manhattan. The production stars Ortega, Zulaika Velázquez, Adriana Sananes, Ana Montero, Piedad Castaño, Lissette Montolío and Juan Villarreal in the cast. For more information, click here.
Julio Agustín will be directing a production of Cy Coleman-Dorothy Fields-Neil Simon musical Sweet Charity. Produced by the New Haarlem Arts Theatre, the show will have a July and August run at Aaron Davis Hall in Manhattan's Harlem neighborhood. Gabriela García will serve as choreographer. Teatro SEA is currently presenting Ricitos y los 3 ositos/Ricitos and the 3 Bears. Conceived, produced, written and directed by Manuel A. Morán, the show takes place at SEA's namesake theater, located in the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center (home to HOLA) in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood and stars Tom Schubert, Paola Poucel, Ángela Pérez and Ana Campos.
