Performers and directors/designers of Puerto Rican descent who won Asociación de Cronistas de Espectáculos de Nueva York (ACE) Awards this year were highlighted in the Héctor Luis Sin Censura blog. They include HOLA members Xiomara Cintrón, Caridad del Valle, A.B. Lugo, Manuél A. Morán, Héctor Luis Rivera (see below), Raúl Rivera (see below), Jeannie Sol and Kathy Tejada (see below). Raúl Rivera (see above and below) is directing the Teatro Experimental Blue Amigos (TEBA) production of José Adolfo Pichardo's La otra cara de Nadís. Starring Enmanuel García Villavicencio (see below), Ramón Hierro and Yvette Quintero (see below), the show will take place in March at the Broadway Blackbox Theater, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. Group of the Arts (GOTA) is presenting Pablo Cabrera's ¡Por mi madre que es verdad!, which is itself an adaptation of Enrique Buenaventura and Tomás Carrasquilla's A la diestra de Dios Padre and the popular medieval legend of Death and the Blacksmith). Directed by J. Edgar Mozoub, the play stars María Cotto, Enmanuel García Villavicencio (see above), Yvette Quintero (see above), Héctor Luis Rivera (see above and below), Raúl Rivera (see above and below), among others. Due to popular demand, TEBA is also presenting Las damas de Atenea. Written by Pablo García Gámez and directed by Héctor Luis Rivera (see above and below), the show will take place in May at the Broadway Blackbox Theater (located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood) and feature Bárbara González, Alexandra Manzano, María Richardson, Kathy Tejada (see above) and Rivera in the cast. TEBA and CHAS (Compañía Hispana de Actores Sobresalientes) will present Simón del desierto. Adapted from the Luis Buñuel film (and the dramatic poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson) and directed by Emir Cruz, the play will feature Piedad Castaño, Digna Carvajal, Raúl Rivera (see above), Héctor Luis Rivera (see above), among others. The production will also feature film work by Claudio Jiménez and be presented in May at the Broadway Blackbox Theater, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood.
