Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Suni Reyes, shown at right, is starring in Where We Flounder. Written and directed by Kimille Howard, the play will take place at Manhattan Repertory Theater (located in the theater district of midtown Manhattan) as part of its Winter One-Act Play Competition 2015. Vanessa Verduga, creator-writer-director-producer-star of the award-winning webseries "Justice Woman", has announced that a webisode of the webseries is an official selection of the Vancouver Web Fest, taking place in March 2015 at the Performance Works Theatre, located on Granville Island in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The Venus/Adonis Theater Festival is once again taking place in New York City. Running from January through March 2015 at the Robert Moss Theater/440 Studios, located in Manhattan's NoHo neighborhood, the festival has over 30 productions being presented. • Women Without Borders is a solo show written and performed by Adela María Bolet and directed by Mary McGinley. The show explores the lives of several women who changed the world, from Anaïs Nin, to Gertrude Stein to Hildegarde von Bingen to Violeta Parra. It will be performed in February.
• Yin/Yang is a play written by Alfonso Ramírez and directed by Machel Ross. The play revolves around a gay couple who have been together for 42 years and an argument they have on New Year's Eve 2011. It will be performed in January.
• Zuccotti Park is a musical written by Catherine Hurd and Valtrena King and directed by Luis Salgado. The musical takes place in and around the Occupy movement (the title is named after the birthplace of the movement in New York City). It will be performed in February and March.
La Marqueta Retoña is an initiative to revive the social and cultural elements of the historical site of La Marqueta (located in Manhattan's El Barrio neighborhood) through the arts, music and community activities. It most recently held a special Three Kings Day event on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 (held in conjunction with the neighborhood's annual Three Kings Day parade), which featured the talents of A.B. Lugo and María Cotto. In addition, Rhina Valentín will be the featured performer at Barrio Poetix (hosted by Mariposa) on Thursday, January 15, 2015. For more information, click here.
