HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip." In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting and performance gigs. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface.

Stewart Villilo, shown at right, booked a Metro PCS industrial commercial after he read about the casting notice in the daily e-mail announcements HOLA sends to its members and self-submitted.

Gilbert Cruz booked a day player role in the television series "Person of Interest" (CBS).

Caridad de la Luz (also known by her nom de poésie et de musique La Bruja) will be performing in Cuba y Puerto Rico Son: Celebrando los espíritus y ochás. She will be performing songs and original poetry with other performers including Los Rayos del Sol and Pedrito Martínez and Ibboru. A collaboration between the Caribbean Cultural Center/African Diaspora Institute and Aaron Davis Hall/City College of New York, the event will take place on September 29, 2012 at Aaron Davis Hall. Henry Gaínza will next appear on stage in Godspell. Written by John Michael Tebelak (book) and Stephen Schwartz (music and lyrics), the musical will have an October and November run in the Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theater in Coral Gables, Florida. For more information, click here

María Hinojosa, shown at right, won the John Chancellor Award from Columbia University Journalism School.

Marisol Carrere's I Am Julia, the film she co-produced (with Gloria Zelaya), co-starred in and wrote, will open The Broadway International Film Festival-Los Angeles (BIFF-LA). The film is directed by David Capurso and stars Leidi Salazar, Carolina Ravassa, Carrere, Doua Moua, Tationna Bosier, Brenda Gómez, Zahaira Curiel and Tamara Turner. The screening will take place on September 20, 2012 at the Los Angeles Theater in Los Angeles, California, USA. For more information, click here.

The next stop on the film festival circuit for the film Elliot Loves (helmed by G. Terracino) is the Long Beach Q Film Festival. The film will be screened on September 15, 2012 at the Art Theatre in Long Beach, California, USA. Elliot Loves was produced by Terracino and Elizabeth Gardner and co-produced by Juan Cáceres, stars Robin De Jesús, Elaine Del Valle, Alfredo Narciso, George Ruiz, Dalia Davi, Monte Bezell, Judy Torres, Bobby DeJesús, Denia Brache and Fabio Costaprado in the cast.
