Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. 2016 HOLA Awards recipient Jeannie Sol, shown at right, sang at the 2016 Hispanic Heritage Awards, which took place at the Queens Theatre in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens.
The feature film 11:55 (written by Víctor Almanzar, Ari Issler, and Ben Snyder, and directed by Issler and Snyder) is hitting the film festival circuit, and winning awards the way. The film, which co-stars David Zayas and Erick Betancourt and is produced by Danny Mendoza, tied for the Audience Award for Best Feature Film at Aspen Filmfest, which took place in September in Aspen, Colorado. Ángel Gil Orrios, shown at far left, in the photo at left, was honored along with other Hispanic/Latino community leaders by the Queens Tribune for his work as producer of the Thalía Hispanic Theatre (located in the Sunnyside area of Queens). The event, called the Champions For Change & Leadership Awards, were held for Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15) and took place on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Queens College (located in the Flushing area of Queens). Kathy Tejada and 2016 HOLA Awards recipient A.B. Lugo are co-starring in Elena Garro's Un hogar sólido. Directed by 2016 HOLA Awards recipient Héctor Luis Rivera (also see above), the TEBA production will take place in October at the Broadway Blackbox Theater, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood.
Arisleyda Lombert is co-starring in Molière's Tartufo. Produced by Teatro Huella Latina, it is being presented as part of the X Festival Internacional de Teatro de la Casa de la Cultura de Navarrete, USA (CCN-USA). Directed by Robinson Aybar, the production also co-stars 2016 HOLA Awards recipient Agar García and José Núñez, and will take place in October at the 501 West 145th Street Theater in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood.
