HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.
2016 HOLA Awards recipient Jeannie Sol, shown at right, sang at the 2016 Hispanic Heritage Awards, which took place at the Queens Theatre in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens.

The feature film 11:55 (written by Víctor Almanzar, Ari Issler, and Ben Snyder, and directed by Issler and Snyder) is hitting the film festival circuit, and winning awards the way. The film, which co-stars David Zayas and Erick Betancourt and is produced by Danny Mendoza, tied for the Audience Award for Best Feature Film at Aspen Filmfest, which took place in September in Aspen, Colorado. For more information, click here.

Ángel Gil Orrios, shown at far left, in the photo at left, was honored along with other Hispanic/Latino community leaders by the Queens Tribune for his work as producer of the Thalía Hispanic Theatre (located in the Sunnyside area of Queens). The event, called the Champions For Change & Leadership Awards, were held for Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15) and took place on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Queens College (located in the Flushing area of Queens).
