Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.
Modesto Flako Jiménez and Mathia Vargas, shown at left and at right, were featured in HowlRound, where their participation in the award-winning production of Alex Vásquez Escaño's play Yoleros (directed by Martín Balmaceda) was highlighted. To read the article, which also mentions HOLA, click here.
Rénoly Santiago is set to guest-star in an episode of "Difficult People" (Hulu).
Jeannie Sol and Manuel A. Morán, shown at right, in character, were mentioned in the Héctor Luis Sin Censura blog (written by Héctor Luis Rivera), as a result of their participation in Rafael Hernández: Romance (in which they both star and Morán also directs). A musical revue featuring Puerto Rico's most famous (and arguably Latin America's most prolific) composer Rafael Hernández, it will have performances in February at Teatro SEA, located at the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center (home to HOLA) in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood. To read the blog, which is in Spanish, click here. For more information on the production, click here or here.
A.B. Lugo was mentioned in the BlogTalkRadio podcast "Boricuas of the World Social Club", where Wil Santiago Viera interviewed novelist-performer Jonathan Marcantoni, who spoke of his recent performance (The Writer's Showcase) with Lugo and Charlie Vázquez at the New York campus of the Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico (located in Manhattan's El Barrio neighborhood). To listen to the podcast (Lugo is mentioned in the first ten minutes of the podcast), click here or on the image below. A video of highlights from the event can be seen below the podcast (his segment can be seen from roughly 11:55 to 13:55 of the video).
