Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Adriana Sananes, shown at right, is a finalist for the 2016 Audie Awards in the category of Young Listeners (Up to Age 8) for her work narrating the Yuyi Morales audiobook Niño Wrestles The World (Dreamscape), where she is up against narrators Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Gildart Jackson, Suzy Jackson, and Bernadette Peters. The winners will be recognized on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois at the 2016 Audies Awards. For more information, click here and here.
Blanca Camacho has been busy lately. She has done voice work for the recently aired ABC miniseries "Madoff" (written by Ben Robbins and directed by Raymond De Felitta), starring Richard Dreyfuss, as well as the Showtime series "Billions" starring Paul Giamatti. She also lent her voice to the star-studded Coen Brothers comedy Hail, Caesar!
A.B. Lugo, Omar Pérez, and Indio Mélendez, shown at left, clockwise from top right, were featured in El Blog de Pablo (written by Pablo García Gámez) as a result of their participation in Teatro Cícrulo's CALLBACKSeries 2016, where the three were selected to present and perform in their self-penned solo shows. The plays are Manchild Machismo (directed by Pérez), Rhapsodia (directed by Mino Lora), and Someday A Father Be (directed by Dudley Findlay, Jr.), respectively. Johanna Tolentino, shown at right, in red, in character, on set with actor Ángel Sánchez, is co-starring as Janet Silvers, the head of the Philadelphia Film Commission, in the pilot "Sell Out". Created, co-written and directed by Tony Cruz, it is co-written by Cameron Lloyd, this daunting dramatic comedy is pitched at several networks.
Juan Carlos Díaz was interviewed by Javier E. Gómez on the program "Diálogo Abierto" (BronxNet) where he spoke on his role as Julio César in the upcoming production of Marco Antonio Rodríguez's award-winning play La Luz de un cigarrillo. The play, also directed by Rodríguez, stars Susanna Guzmán, Arisleyda Lombert and Teresa Yenque, and will have performances in February at the Teatro Rafael Villalona at the Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en EEUU, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood.
