Bochinche refers to "gossip." In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members who are getting acting and performance gigs. The names of HOLA members are in boldface.
Ydaiber Orozco, shown at left, is starring in the Jon Kakaley play A Hole in His Heart. Also starring Kakaley, the play is directed by Jake Turner, features Brian Podnos, Arthur Gerunda, Daniel Genalo and Mark Hennessy in the cast and will have a January run at Atlantic Theater Stage 2 in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. For more information, click here. After casting her, the producer e-mailed HOLA to tell us that the role "was originally written for a Caucasian but that [she] impressed... so much at the audition," that she was cast. Adds the producer, "We cast her because she was the best actor we saw, and I will always cast talent over type (particularly when it comes to lead roles)."
Jean-Marc Berne is on the production team for the animated television series "The Octonauts," set to premiere this month on the Disney Jr. network For more information, click here.
Yanelba Ferreira booked a supporting role in "Driving Me Crazy," a new hybrid scripted/reality TV show demo. Tony Ducret is the producer and Vinnie Kralyevich is the executive producer.
John Leguizamo is doing a Spanish-language version of his hit Broadway self-penned solo show Ghetto Klown for a brief New York engagement before taking it on tour in Latin America. The show, with direction by Fisher Stevens, will be performed in mid-January at Repertorio Español in the Rose Hill area of Manhattan. For more information, click here or here.
Mel Nieves will act as Don Miguel in the Royal Family Productions play Don Pedro de la Cebolla. Written by Matthew Harrington and directed by Rachel Harrington, the piece will premiere in January 2012 at Women's Interart Center in the Hell's Kitchen area of Manhattan as part of its Emerging Director's Program. A teaser for the production (not starring Nieves) is below.
