HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

Caridad de la Luz (also known by her nom de poésie et de musique La Bruja), shown at right, was named one of "16 Puerto Rican Women Everyone Should Know" by the Attention Boricuas blog. This follows on the heels of being named one of "20 Puerto Rican Women Everyone Should Know" by the La Respuesta Media blog a few months ago. To read the blogs, click here and here. For more information on the actor-poet-singer-hip hop artist-writer (who two blogs state you should already know), click here, here or here.

Raquel Almazán, shown at left, received the Arthur J. Harris Memorial Prize through Columbia University (from which she recently earned her Master of Fine Arts degree in Playwriting) for her play La Paloma Prisoner. She will partner with STEPS to End Family Violence and include programming with formerly incarcerated women. For more information, click here

Vanessa Verduga was interviewed by KCAL (the Los Angeles affiliate of CBS), where she spoke about her award-winning webseries "Justice Woman" (of which she takes on the roles of creator, writer, director, producer, and star). In addition, she mentions her upcoming personal appearances in July at the San Diego Comic Convention in San Diego, California, just as the Season 3 finale of "Justice Woman" is about to premiere. For more information, click here and/or on the video below.

Emilio Delgado was a guest on CNN's "Reliable Sources", where the star of "Sesame Street" (PBS) was interviewed about his thoughts millionaire and presidential candidate Donald J. Trump and his controversial comments regarding Mexican-Americans. For more information, click here, or on the video image below. The ABC's of offensive speech - CNN Video
