HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Vanessa Aspillaga and Robin De Jesús, shown above, from left to right, will be joining Jeff Goldblum and Laurie Metcalf in the Broadway production of Domesticated. Written by Bruce Norris and directed by Anna D. Shapiro, the Lincoln Center Theater production is scheduled to start performances on October 10, 2013 (with an official opening of November 4, 2013) at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. Alfonso Rey will next be seen on stage in the musical The Golem of Havana. Written by Michel Hausmann (libretto), Salomon Lerner (music) and Len Schiff (lyrics), the Columbia Stages/Theater of the Americas production is directed by Hausmann and scheduled for an August and September run at The Ellen Stewart Theater at La Mama, located in Manhattan's East Village. Teatro Experimental Blue Amigos (TEBA) is presenting Miguel Ángel Rellán's The Blind Warrior. Directed and adapted by Héctor Luis Rivera, the play is scheduled for a September run at Teatro Soy (located in Manhattan's Washington Heights area), and will feature the talents of Akera, Dennis Maragliano, Amado Marte, Anthony Moorer, Kevin Pérez, Jennifer Quinn, Raúl Rivera, Claudio Marcel Weisz and J. Edgar Mozoub

J.W. Cortés is acting on an episode of the television series "Taxi: Brooklyn South" (TNT), based on Luc Besson's Taxi film franchise and directed Olivier Megaton For more information about the television series, click here or here.

Carlos A. González has a very busy weekend. He will be performing standup comedy at The Creek and the Cave in the Long Island City area of Queens on Thursday, NY Comedy Club in Manhattan's Rose Hill neighborhood on Friday, and Cascata in Yonkers, New York on Saturday. Francis Mateo is performing this August in Dead Reckoning, a series of three one-act plays (written by Holly M. Eaton, Felice Lesser and Cecilia Copeland, respectively; directed by Joyia Bradley, Jenny Greeman, and Daniella Caggiano, respectively), produced by New Perspectives Theatre, at their namesake studio space located in the Fashion District of midtown Manhattan.
