HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Alberto Bonilla, shown at right, is the understudy for the roles of Dr. Wally, Bob and the titular role in Roundabout Theatre's Broadway premiere production of Scott McPherson's play Marvin's Room.  Directed by Anne Kauffman, the play will star Janeane Garofalo, Celia Weston and Lili Taylor and will begin previews at the American Airlines Theatre on Thursday, June 8, 2017 with a scheduled opening date of June 29, 2017. Lucio Fernándezshown at left, and the music group Máxima Alerta, of which he is a member, performed on the Univision float at the 2017 Cuban Parade of New Jersey, which occurred on June 4, 2017 and ran on Bergenline Avenue (starting at James J. Braddock Park) through the cities of North Bergen, Guttenberg, West New York, and Union City, ending at Celia Cruz Way (all in New Jersey's Hudson County). Aileene PérezHéctor Luis RiveraMarina CatalánAlicia CerónAniela GonzálezJulissa Román and Cedric Leiba, Jr. were featured in the Entreactos y Telones column of the weekly New York newspaper La Voz Hispana. Pérez is starring as the titular role of the Teatro Experimental Blue Amigos (TEBA) production of Mirandolina (La posadera), directed by Rivera. The play will be presented in June as part of the seventh annual Festival de Teatro Latino Del Comisionado at the Teatro Rafael Villalona at El Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en EEUU, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood.. Catalán, Cerón, González, and Román are starring in Leonardo González's play Nanas. Produced by Berioska Ipinza and Pietro González of LaMicro Theater, it will take place in June at IATI Theater, located in Manhattan's East Village. Leiba is co-starring in in the Pregones-PRTT production of El Bolero Was My Downfall. Based on the Manuel Ramos Otero short story "Loca la de la locura", the piece was adapted and directed by Jorge B. Merced (who also stars), and will be presented in June at Pregones Theater, located in the Mott Haven section of the South Bronx. To read the article, which is in Spanish, click on the image at above right. Rhina Valentín, shown at left, was the featured model of banners all along Fordham Road in the Bronx and cover model for the area map and shopper's guide as she is the face of a print campaign of the Fordham Road Business Improvement District (BID), a 501(c)(3) non profit organization and work closely with the city of New York to encourage community and economic engagement.
