HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

Luis Salgado and Maite Uzalshown above, left to right, in a post-performance discussion and in character, respectively, were featured in a photo flash article from Broadway World where his role as director-choreographer and her role as Abuela Claudia in the upcoming Axelrod Performing Arts Center (APAC) production of the Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegría Hudes musical In The Heights were highlighted. The production is currently running at Axelrod's eponymous theater in Deal Park, New Jersey. To read the article, which features production photography, click here.

Ileana Canal, with Kim Brantley, co-wrote, co-directed and co-produced the documentary Exiled From History-The Story of the U.S. Maroons. The documentary is being broadcast on DCTV all throughout March. For more information, including a schedule of airings, click here and here.

Caridad de la Luz (also known by her nom de poésie et de musique La Bruja), shown at right, will be teaching spoken word poetry in March and April as part of the sixth annual Hip Hop Academy, presented by Pepatián in association with BronxWorks. In addition, as part of the Academy, she was a panelist at the Entrepreneurship Panel and Career Lab which took place in March and April at BronxWorks (located in the Tremont area of the Bronx). Elizardi Castro will perform his standup comedy as the opening act for recording artist (and "Princess of Salsa") India, when she performs on Friday, June 30, 2016 at Joe's Live (in Rosemont, Illinois), at a concert produced by Mike Oquendo. For more information, click here.
