Gilbert Cruz will be appearing in Michael Bradford's play Olives and Blood. Directed by May Adrales, the show will have a June run at HERE Arts Center in Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood. Commissioned and produced by City Parks Foundation/SummerStage, the modern update of Shakespeare's Hamlet is directed by Jerry Ruiz and will take place on July 6, 2012 al fresco in St. Mary's Park in the Mott Haven area of the South Bronx. Ana María Estrada, shown at right, reports to us that she just finished filming a lead role (the controversial Sister Carmela Vásquez de Velasco) in the Cuban-Peruvian cinematic co-production Teresa, la novia del libertador (helmed by Rocío Llado). Caridad De La Luz (also known by her nom de poésie et musique La Bruja), along with Lin-Manuel Miranda; Ángel R. Rodríguez, Sr.; Sandra María Esteves; Tato Laviera; Christopher "Chilo" Cajigas; Odilia Rivera Santos; Circa '95 (PattyDukes and RephStar); and DJ Logic will be performing with Grammy winners Arturo O'Farrill and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra and the fifth annual new music concert (Música Nueva 5: Big Band Poetry Jam and Beyond). The concerts are to take place on May 11 and 12, 2012 at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Symphony Space in Manhattan's Upper West Side. For more information, click here.
