HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip." In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members who are getting acting and performance gigs. The names of HOLA members are in boldface.
Marco Antonio Rodríguez's award winning play La luz de un cigarrillo will be published by NOPE Press. Edited by Rodríguez (shown at above right), Miranda Martínez and Caridad Svich, it will feature playwright notes, detailed production history and the original cast list (an all-HOLA member cast with Susanna Guzmán, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Arisleyda Lombert and Teresa Yenque, shown below, clockwise from bottom left) from the 2011 HOLA Award-winning production at Teatro LATEA. The book (its front and back cover can be seen at left), can be bought online by clicking here.

Freia Canals and Denise Kornitz co-wrote and co-star in Alita the Show. The show is billed as "a bilingual show for the entire family" and will be presented in April by TeatroStageFest as part of their TeatroStageFamily initiative, with performances in Manhattan's El Barrio/East Harlem (Red Carpet Theater), Washington Heights (YM & YWHA of Washington Heights and Inwood) and Chelsea (Centro Español), as well as in Bronx's Crotona Park area (C.S. 61/The Francisco Oller School). For more information about this production, click here or here.

Omar Pérez just returned from a tour of the play Texting 4 Life. Written by Sol Marina Crespo and directed by Jorge B. Merced, the show is produced by Pregones Theater, co-starred Carissa Jocett Toro, Ugo Anyanwu and Maylin Castro, and was performed in April at Casa Milagros in Denver, Colorado.

Caridad De La Luz
(also known by her nom de poésie La Bruja) will be co-hosting the Rabble in the Bronx poetry event, which will feature guests Flaco Navaja and Oveous Maximus. For more information about her and her upcoming events, click here.
