Bochinche refers to "gossip." In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members who are getting acting and performance gigs. The names of HOLA members are in boldface.
Mauricio Leyton is playing Pablo Neruda in the Exit Art/Trickster Theater production Vortex. Conceived, directed and with original music by Papo Colo, the piece shows the views of two famous poets-- Neruda and Walt Whitman. Scheduled for an August run, the production also stars Ernesto Nodal and Elinor Thompson and will take place at the Exit Art's eponymous space located in the theater district of midtown Manhattan. (Leyton, shown above at left, received the audition, and subsequently the role, through a HOLA referral.)
Rob Santana's My Night With Frida will be presented as part of the Manhattan Repertory Theater's Summerfest 2011. Directed by Mark G. Cisneros, the play will take place at MRT, located in the theater district of midtown Manhattan for an August run and will have Yvette Quintero, Masha Mendieta, Jorge Ortiz and Stanton Powell. (Quintero and Mendieta, shown above at right, got their auditions, and subsequently their respective roles, for the production through an HOLA casting notice.)
Common Space will present Futuristic Flower Power, a workshop presentation of a poetic-theatrical piece written and performed by Elizabeth Rivera de García also known by her nom de poésie SoulSistaRican. The show will also feature Choo de la Blanca and Malakai Andrés García and will have an August run at Common Space, located in the Forest Hills section of Queens.
