Lin-Manuel Miranda, along with former cast members of the Broadway musical In The Heights, will perform at the New York Dance Alliance Foundation's annual benefit entitled Bright Lights! Shining Stars! Other performers include the cast of the Broadway musical Billy Elliot, former Alvin Ailey dancer Clifton Brown, Desmond Richardson (of Fosse and Movin' Out fame) and Karine Plantadit (of Come Fly Away and Movin' Out fame). The gala will also honor singer Roberta Flack and take place on August 1, 2011 at the Jack H. Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in Manhattan's Greenwich Village area. Daphne Rubin-Vega will be performing at Broadway Stands Up for Freedom, the annual star-studded benefit concert to support the youth programs of the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU). The concert will be hosted by Seth Rudetsky and take place on Monday, July 25, 2011 at the Jack H. Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in Manhattan's Greenwich Village area. Bill Santiago will be performing standup comedy in July at an event for LatinoJustice PRLDEF, which will take place at The Ailey Studios near Manhattan's Columbus Circle area. He will follow this up with a gig at the annual conference of the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) at the Marriott Waldman Park Hotel in Washington, District of Columbia. Caridad De La Luz (also known by her nom de poésie La Bruja) will perform at the unveiling of Yasmin Hernández's mural Soldaderas. Produced by Art for Change and the El Barrio Today Arts Cluster, the event will also feature performances by Kalpulli Huehuetlahtolli Mexica Dancers, Dylcia Pagán, J.F. Seary, María Aponte, Mia Román Hernández, Nilbia Coyote, Prisionera, Sandra María Esteves, Sery Colón, Son de Montón and Vanessa Pérez Rosario. The unveiling will take place on July 6, 2011 at the Modesto Flores Garden in Manhattan's El Barrio neighborhood.
