HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip." In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members who are getting acting and performance gigs. The names of HOLA members are in boldface.

Gilbert Cruz and Denia Brache, shown at left, booked a role in the staged reading of A Diamond in a House of Thieves (written by Mira Gibson and directed by Elizabeth Bess) as part of the Ensemble Studio Theatre's Youngblood series through a casting notice sent out by HOLA. The reading will take place at EST in the theater district of midtown Manhattan.

Inma Heredia and her solo show My Audition with Almodóvar (written by Alberto Ferreras and Ms. Heredia) was mentioned in an article by Erasmo Guerra in the June 1, 2011 edition of the New York Daily News. To read the article, click here.

The feature film Beginners (written and directed by Mike Mills) opens this weekend in theaters across the U.S. The movie stars Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer, Mélanie Laurent, Goran Višnjić, José Yenque and Reynaldo Pacheco.

Mônica Steuer starts shooting the short film Hope’s Portal (directed by David Allensworth) this month. She will follow that up will a co-starring role in the feature film 200 cartas (directed by Bruno Irizarry) which will start shooting in Puerto Rico this August.

Mike Smith Rivera e-mailed us to let us know that he will be playing the deity Ganesh in the Workshop Theater Company production of Fabulous Darshan. Written by Bob Stewart and directed by Susan Izatt, the show will have a June run and take place at Workshop's theater located in the theater district of midtown Manhattan. Lisandra Sánchez Rivera-Payan just finished playing a pregnant woman in the film short Crossroads: Bring Me Back to Life (written by Jennifer Pinto and Ura Yoana Sánchez and directed by José L. García).

Blanca Vásquez nabbed the role of Krystal in the ongoing web series "dramedy" What Exit? (directed by Sophia Eptamenitis).
