
Raúl Rivera has been busy on the acting and directing/producing fronts. As an actor, he will star in the Giovanni Cruz Durán play El diablo ya no vive aquí. Directed by José Bonilla, the play will also star Claribel Ortiz and be presented in April by Casa de la Cultura Navarrete USA (CCN-USA). For more information, click here. As a director/producer, he is presenting Sueños rotos. Two monologues (Trash and En este apartmento hay fuego todos los días, both written by Pedro Monge Rafuls), the production stars Edú and Ana Montero and will be presented in April by Coquí Theater. Both productions will take place at El Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en EEUU (CoDoCul), located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood.
Rafael Beato, shown at left, can be seen in the Cándido Tirado and Vico C musical La canción. Directed by Edward Torres, the play is currently running at Repertorio Español, located in the Rose Hill neighborhood of Manhattan. [Beato just won the 2017 NY Latin ACE Award for Best Male Actor in a Musical for his role in this production.] For more information, click here. In addition, he will temporarily leave the cast of that show to act in the GALA Hispanic Theatre production of the Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegría Hudes musical In The Heights, where he will play Sonny. That production will be the U.S. premiere of the Spanish-language version of the musical. It will be directed and choreographed by Luis Salgado and will run in April and May at GALA's eponymous theater in the North West area of Washington, District of Columbia.
