Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Judy Torres, shown at right, will be performing on the second annual Forever Freestyle Cruise (provided by Mena Travel International). She will share the bill with Soave, George Lamond and TKA for this five-day cruise that will leave Cape Liberty, New Jersey, USA on Saturday, May 16, 2015 and travel to Kings Wharf, Paget, Bermuda before return to its original port. Enmanuel García Villavicencio will be directing Los monólogos de Abniel Marat. An evening of monologues by the late Puerto Rican playwright, it will be presented in May as part of the V Festival Internacional de Monólogos Don Iván García Guerra, taking place at the Broadway Blackbox Theater, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood.
Ángel Gil Orrios and Thalía Hispanic Theatre are co-producing (along with ArtSpoken Performing Arts Center) the play El Jueguito (The Little Game). Written and directed by Yoshvani Medina, the production (which is coming to New York direct from a presentation in Miami, Florida) will take place in April at Thalía's namesake theater in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Queens. Elaine Del Valle, shown at left, in character, along with the famed Nuyorican Poets' Café, will be presenting her award-winning self-penned solo show Brownsville Bred (directed by Pamela Moller Kareman) as part of a kickoff of New York's City Park Foundation's SummerStage series, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary by, among other things, presenting 30 artists in 30 days (known collectively as Summerstage30). Her show (winner of an HOLA Award) will be presented in June in at Betsy Head Park in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Brownsville (coincidentally, where the show takes place).
