HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.


Mario Golden and Yvette Quintero (see below), shown above, from left to right, were highlighted in El Blog de Pablo (from Pablo García Gámez, see also below), for their work in the upcoming production of El canto de Carlota (Charlotte's Song). Written by Nancy Ferragallo, the dance-theater piece is directed by Andreas Robertz and Golden, choreographed by Ferragallo and Celeste Hastings. This will be the piece's Spanish-language world premiere, and it will have a one-evening benefit performance for the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA) on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Flamboyán Theater in the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center (home to HOLA) in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood. Mauricio Pita will be acting in April and May in a NYC school tour of the show Los Desertores (The Dropouts)written by Radamés Gavé, Manuel A. Morán (see below) and Richard Marino, and directed by Morán.

Velson D'Souza, shown at right, acted in the world premiere of I Catch You Dreaming. Written by Rafael Albarrán and directed by Gama Valle, the Oomph Theater production also starred Albarrán, John Paul Harkins, Annabel Lalonde, Serena Miller, Arron Pfeiffer and Amanda Ríos Nieves and took place in March at the Flamboyán Theater at the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center (home to HOLA) in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood.

Teresa Yenque (see below) guest-starred in an episode of "Broad City" (Comedy Central).

La Asociación de Teatro Independiente (ATI), presented its annual awards for theater on Friday, March 27, 2015 in New York City. HOLA members among the winners include Ivonne Martínez, Yvette Quintero (see above), Marco Antonio Rodríguez, Adriana Sananes and Fermín Suárez.

La Asociación de Cronistas de Espectáculos de Nueva York (ACE) presented its annual awards for theater, film, television and radio on Monday, March 30, 2015 in New York City. HOLA members among the winners include Pablo Andrade, Iván L. Argudo, Xiomara Cintrón, Caridad del Valle, Pablo García Gámez (see above), Enmanuel García Villavicencio, Mateo Gómez, Gerardo Gudiño, Sandor Juan, A.B. Lugo, Manuel A. Morán (see above), Héctor Luis Rivera, Raúl Rivera, Jeannie Sol, Sebastian Stimman, Kathy Tejada, and Teresa Yenque (also see above; the last of whom received an Extraordinary Award for Distinction and Merit, and for whom this year's ceremony was dedicated).
