HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Sebastian Stimman, shown at right, was featured in Broadway World, where the production he is acting in, Julián & Romero, is profiled. Written and directed by Alex Pérez, the play also stars Edna Lee Figueroa, and will be presented at the Flamboyán Theater at the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center (home to HOLA) in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood in August as part of the New York International Fringe Festival (fringeNYC). Joel Pérez acted in the film short Strange Past (written by Maggie Lehrman and directed by Kyle Gilman).

The Francisco Lupini Basagoiti short film Tú. Yo. Baño. Sexo. Ahora. (starring Francisco Fuertes and Mauricio Pitacontinues its journey on the film festival circuit, with a stop at the Long Island Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (LIGLFF), scheduled to take place in July in Huntington, New York. David Zayas, shown at left, is currently filming the feature film Tallulah. Written and directed by Sian Heder, the film stars Uzo Aduba, Ellen Page, Zachary Quinto and Allison Janney, and is scheduled for release sometime in 2016.

Danny Mendoza directed all of Season 1 of "El Maestro Unplugged", an unscripted series from Telemundo about up-and-coming musicians (Domino Saints, Cristal Marie and Cristian Daniel) being mentored by an established musician (Luis Enrique). For more information, click here or here, or see the first webisode below (note that the webseries is in Spanish with English subtitles).
