HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The William Caballero short film Víctor and Isolina is continuing its run on the film festival circuit. The animated film (which utilized 3D models of its stars) is produced by Elaine Del Valle and Louis Perego Moreno (Tío Louie) and just won the Jury Award at the Ann Arbor Film Festival (AAFF) in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Edna Lee Figueroa, Edmi De Jesús, Jerry Soto and Gerardo Gudiño were featured in the Héctor Luis Sin Censura blog (edited by Héctor Luis Rivera, also see below) are starring in Txemi Parra's play La terapia. Directed by Gudiño, the play stars Figueroa, De Jesús and Soto (an all-HOLA member cast) and is presented as part of the second season of Teatro SEA's Micro Teatro New York festival, is currently running through April at Teatro SEA's namesake theater in The Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center (home to HOLA) in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood. Raúl Riverashown at right, was featured in the Héctor Luis Sin Censura blog (edited by Héctor Luis Riveraalso see above and below), as a result of his producing and directing Sueños rotos. Two monologues (Trash and En este apartmento hay fuego todos los días, both written by Pedro Monge Rafuls), the production stars Edú and Ana Montero and will be presented in April by Coquí Theater. Both productions will take place at El Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en EEUU (CoDoCul), located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. To read the blog, which is in Spanish, click here.

Pablo García Gámez, shown at left, was featured in the Héctor Luis Sin Censura blog (edited by Héctor Luis Riveraalso see aboveas a result of his award-winning play Olvidadas, being selected by Teatro Círculo to be presented as part of its Callback 2017 series. Directed by Diego Chiri, the play will star Rosie Berrido and Noëlle Mauri and be presented in May at Teatro Círculo's namesake theater in Manhattan's East Village. To read the blog, which is in Spanish, click here.
