HOLA Member Bochinche


Bochinche refers to "gossip." In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface.

Héctor Luis Rivera, shown at right, was profiled in the ArteNY Arte y Teatro en Nueva York blog where it announced his being named Artistic Director of Teatro Soy (located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood). To read the blog (which is in Spanish), click here.

Paola Poucel acted in the play De Novo. Written and directed by Jeffrey Solomon and produced by Kupferberg Center Performances and Houses on the Moon Theater Company (in collaboration with Daniel Dromm), the production took place in April at the Elmhurst Hospital Center Auditorium in the Elmhurst section of Queens. Billy Martín Mejía, shown at left, was highlighted in the Al Momento blog for winning the III Festival de Teatro Hispano del Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en EEUU with the Otro Teatro production of Frágil (written by César Brie), in which he served as director and one of the actors (the other members of the ensemble included Angie Regina, Sandy Hernández and Miguel Maldonado). Also mentioned in the blog were HOLA members Ernesto De Villa Bejjani, Carmen Cabrera, Eduardo Ramos, Kathy Tejada, Johanna Ramírez, Adela María Bolet, Mauricio Pita and Edison Carrera. Mauricio Bustamante performed in the Lisa Monde musical I Cry You Mercy, Everyone. The production took place in April at The New Theater at 45th Street, located in the theater district of midtown Manhattan.

Carlos A. González hosted the fourth annual WOO Films Awards Show in April. The event took place at Katra Lounge in the Soho neighborhood of Manhattan.

Gustavo Pace is presenting his self-penned solo show Naked Brazilian (directed by Rachel Eckerling) in April at Dixon Place, located in Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood. For more information, click here.

Sully Bonnelly and Marisol Carrere are acting in the Teátrica production El hombre que esperaba en el camino. Written by José M. de la Rosa and directed by Walter Ventosilla, the play also stars Zaida Corniel and Fabián González and will have a run in May at Teatro Soy in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood.
