Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Marco Antonio Rodríguez, shown at right, was featured in the Héctor Luis Sin Censura blog (written and edited by 2016 HOLA Awards recipient Héctor Luis Rivera, also see below), where his participation as a playwright in the recent Harlem9/Pregones-PRTT production of 48 Hours... in El Bronx, was highlighted, as well as his upcoming adaptation of Julia Álvarez's play En el nombre de Salomé (to be directed by José Zayas and scheduled for a run at Repertorio Español in February 2017). 2016 HOLA Awards recipient A.B. Lugo co-wrote and co-starred in the horror comedy film ¡Ay, Que Susto! (Oh, What A Fright!). The award-winning short is co-written and co-produced by Mo Zapata, with cinematography (and co-production by Anthony Ruiz), and co-starring Natalia Ivana Escobar, and is continuing its run in the film festival circuit, and getting award nominations along the way. Its latest stop is at the Macabre Faire Film Festival (scheduled to take place in January 2017 in Ronkonkoma, New York), where it picked up three nominations: Best Actor in a Short (Andrés Chulisi Rodríguez), Best Supporting Actress in a Short (Yecenia Jessie Cotto), and Best Horror Comedy Short. Paola Tonini, shown at left holding award, received a proclamation from the Brooklyn Borough President's Office and New York Teleprensa USA in recognition of her work as an actress, director, producer and television host/on-air personality. The award was presented to her in a ceremony on Thursday, December 14, 2016 at Brooklyn Borough Hall in downtown Brooklyn.
The blog Héctor Luis Sin Censura (written and edited by 2016 HOLA Awards recipient Héctor Luis Rivera, also see above) highlighted many of the nominees of the 49th annual Asociación de Cronistas Espectáculos de Nueva York (New York Latin ACE Awards), whose ceremony will be scheduled in April 2017.
