HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

Mónica Delgado, shown at right, received a Best Supporting Actress nomination from the International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema Milan 2016 for her role in Bx3M (written and directed by Judith Escalona). The film is an official selection of the festival (which is scheduled to take place in November and December in Milan, Lombardy, Italy), and has received eight festival award nominations including Best Feature Film.

2016 HOLA Awards recipient A.B. Lugo co-wrote and co-stars in the short film ¡Ay, Que Susto! Co-written and directed by Mo Zapata, the horror-comedy was co-produced and shot by Anthony Ruiz (also see below) and co-stars Andrés Chulisi Rodríguez, Jessie Cotto, Félix Hiciano and Natalia Ivana Escobar and will have its world premiere screening on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at The Producers' Club, located in the theater district of midtown Manhattan. Anthony Ruiz (also see above) is a quarterfinalist of the 2016 ScreenCraft Pilot Launch competition for his pilot "Unit 1051" (the quarterfinals represent the top 5% of all submitted projects).

2016 HOLA Awards recipient Héctor Luis Rivera was featured in Variedades con Franco in the New York biweekly newspaper Orgullo Ecuatoriano, where his recent HOLA Award for the TEBA production of La espera (written and directed by Franco Galecio) was highlighted. Also featured in the same column were 2016 HOLA Awards recipient Alfonso Rey and Mafer Rodríguez as a result of their participation in the Monologando Contando Ando solo show and storytelling festival. Rodríguez's show was Atrapen a Minnie (written and directed by Lupe Gehrenbeck); Rey's show was #Popular (written by Marcos Purroy and directed by Rey). Rey's show wound up winning the festival. To see the column, click on the image at above left
