HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Repertorio Español is presenting the world premiere of Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter (La tía Julia y el escribidor), and this event was covered in Broadway World. Written by Caridad Svich and based on the autobiographical novel by Mario Vargas Llosa, it is directed by José Zayas. The production will star 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Pablo Andrade, 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Zulema Clares, Dalia Davi, Luis Carlos de La LombanaGerardo Gudiño, Christian López Lamelas, Alfonso Rey, with special appearances by 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Germán Jaramillo and 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Ana Margarita Martínez-Casado. The play opens in October at Repertorio Español's namesake theater located in the Rose Hill neighborhood of Manhattan. For more information, click here or here. Milteri Tucker, shown at left, and Bombazo Dance Company will perform Bamboula, her new evening-length choreography inspired by her family roots and research in Puerto Rico and New Orleans, and takes Afro-Puerto Rican bomba music and dance back to its Congolese origins, Southern style. The performance will take place in October at the Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance (BAAD!) in the Westchester Square area of the Bronx as part of its annual Blaktinx Performance Series. Jason Torres will be acting in The Cruising Monologues. Written and directed by José Alexy Batista-Ayala, the production will take place in November at the Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance (BAAD!) in the Westchester Square area of the Bronx as part of its annual Blaktinx Performance Series. Judy Torres, shown at right, will sing her hits at the second annual Monsters of Freestyle concert. She will share the bill with Lisa Lisa, TKA, Coro, Lisette Meléndez, Rob Base, Cynthia, Johnny O, Kim Sozzi and Jade Starling. The concert will take place on Friday, October 30, 2015 at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury, located in Westbury, New York. For more information about this concert, click here.

Olga Merediz and Johanna Tolentino co-star in a webisode of the Comedy Central webseries "Alternatino", which can be seen below (caution: some strong language and chancleta-related violence).



2015 HOLA Awards recipient Sebastian Stimman co-wrote and stars in the short film Red, to be directed by Pierre Taisne (who also co-wrote) and Paul Bomba, and produced by B10 Productions. The film is currently wrapping up filming in New York City and features A.B. LugoInma Heredia and Enmanuel García Villavicencio, among others.
