Repertorio Español is presenting El laurel del Apolo. Written by Pedro Calderón de la Barca, with original music by Marios Aristopoulos, the play is directed by Estefanía Fadul as part of the theater's Van Lier Directors Fellowship and features Carmen Cabrera, Gerardo Gudiño, Inma Heredia, and Franco Yáñez, shown above, clockwise starting from top left, in the cast (some of the actors were cast after a casting call that the theater put out to HOLA). The production will take place in July at Repertorio's namesake theater in Manhattan's Rose Hill neighborhood. For more information, click here.
Liza Colón-Zayas completed work on the short film Father's Day. Written by Elizabeth Canavan and directed by Kiki Lambden Stout, the film also stars Canavan, Susan Aston, Jinn S. Kim, Michael Puzzo, and Thomas P. Sherman.
The Thalía Hispanic Theatre production of Antonio Muñoz de Mesa's play Abuso (Abuse) was featured in the ArteNY blog. Directed, produced and designed by Ángel Gil Orrios, shown at left, the production (which will be presented with Spanish and English performances) has an all-HOLA member cast consisting of Soledad López and Francisco Fuertes, shown, in character, from front to rear, in the photo at above right. The play will run in May and June at Thalía's namesake theater located in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Queens. To read the blog, click here.
Olga Merediz is filming the feature film Fair Market Value. Written by Kevin Arbouet and Judy San Román and directed by Arbouet, the film also stars Craig Bierko, Wendy Makkena, Debra Jo Rupp, Julia Duffy and Gene Gabriel.
