HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

Edna Lee Figueroa and Julio Ortega, shown in character at right, right to left, were featured in the daily Ecuadorian newspaper Extra, as a result of the feature film Medardo (written by Ortega and directed by Nitsy Grau Crespo) in which they both star. The film (which was shot in Ecuador) also stars Lupita Ferrer, Juan VillarrealEdison Carrera, Gloria Ospina, Fior Marte, and Inma Heredia. Alberto Bonilla is directing Anthony P. Pennino's Chokehold. The play will run in June and July at the Fourth Street Theater, located in Manhattan's East Village. For more information, click here.

Pablo Andrade, shown at left, was featured in Venezuelan blogs Informe21 and 2001, where he was profiled for his work as actor, co-director and producer of the Fermín Reina play El Rey de Francia. Co-directed by Dimas González (who also starred in the play), the play also co-starred Adriana Galíndez and ran in June as part of the fifth annual Festival de Teatro Hispano Del Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en EEUU (CoDoCul) at its theater space located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. Susan Rybin was interviewed by Javier E. Gómez for the BronxNet talk show "Diálogo abierto", where she spoke of her career as an actress, teacher and manager for juvenile performers.
